Manhattanville College's ELI (English Language Institute) is a great place to be a student! The ELI curriculum is designed to improve students' English language proficiency and understanding of American culture, as preparation for future academic, business, professional, or personal success. (Conditional admission to Manhattanville College may be offered to international students who meet the College's academic requirements but whose English language proficiency does not yet meet the minimum requirement.) Our faculty are highly-qualified, professionals with extensive experience teaching English to students both in the United States and abroad. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, with an emphasis on helping each student achieve their own personal goal. At Manhattanville, students have the best of two worlds: a beautiful safe suburban campus, with shopping and entertainment in nearby towns, and quick and easy access (a 30 minute train ride) to the cultural attractions and excitement of New York City. ELI students are full members of the diverse College community and are welcome to use the College's facilities including the library, computer laboratories, sports facilties and other student amenities. ELI students are also encouraged to participate in the many activities and events organized by student-run clubs, including the International Student Organization (ISO).
