UCD, Ireland's Global University is Ireland's largest university and research institution with over 30,000 students (including over 6,000 international students from over 120 countries). Ranking among the top 1% of universities globally (THE and QS), UCD is a comprehensive, research-intensive university organised into 6 thematic Colleges (Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering and Architecture, Health and Agricultural Sciences, Science, Social Sciences and Law). Almost 30% of all students at UCD are engaged in graduate level research under the supervision of our world-class research staff, 36% of whom are international. UCD places a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary research with 10 major Research Institutes, 7 Strategic Research Clusters and many major collaborative research programmes bringing together national and international partners. UCD's core internationalisation strategy provides broad-reaching and well-developed technical capacity to manage and support major international cooperation projects, resulting in successful and active participation in a large variety of bilateral and multilateral institutional partnerships which support staff and student mobility, research collaboration and joint academic development initiatives. With a team of over 50 experienced professionals, UCD International is the dedicated management unit within UCD responsible for internationalisation. UCD International staff are based in the central UCD Dublin office, and Global Centres located in key regions of focus; New Delhi, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur and New York, with offices also in Chicago and San Francisco. The UCD International team is led by the Director of International Affairs and has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the key activity areas involved in the university's internationalisation agenda: international student recruitment, international student support services, European and Non-EU student exchange programmes, and international partnership activity (including the management of major international funded projects). UCD International operates the largest student exchange programme in Ireland, with over 1,000 inbound and over 600 outbound students in 2014/15, and growing rapidly. Mobilities are coordinated in collaboration with UCD's over 250 Erasmus partner universities and over 120 Non-EU partner institutions. UCD is Ireland's largest participant in the Erasmus student exchange programme and has a rapidly expanding exchange programme with destination countries as varied as Mexico, New Zealand and Canada. Utilising UCD’s modern facilities, including the purpose built Global Lounge, UCD International host a schedule of International events annually and provide students with pre-arrival information, orientation and pastoral care.
