The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) is a higher education institution, private, catholic Marist, pontifical and non-profit. PUCPR offers in 5 Campi within federal state Paraná more than 60 undergraduate courses, more than 180 lato sensu graduate programs and 22 strictu sensu graduate programs for 30,000 students. The language of instruction is Portuguese for undergraduate programs and for graduate programs students have a foreign language test with the admission test. The entry test for a Bachelorâs degree is named âVestibularâ, which is the primary and widespread system used by Brazilian universities. In PUCPR it is a multiple choice question test concerning the following subjects: Portuguese Language (including a student-written essay), Portuguese and Brazilian Literature, Math, History, Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Foreign Language. In Brazil there is no official ranking of universities, but they need to be accredited, in order to issue degrees, on a national level by the Ministry of Education (MEC). PUCPR is accredited by MEC since 1960 (n. 48.232).
