Recently University of São Paulo, which FEA-RP is one of its schools, has been positioned as the best university in Latin America. It´s noticed the effort of USP´s faculty, students and staff as the results obtained are the highest ratings in international rankings. USP took the 178th place in World University Rankings 2011 - 2012, the best placement of South America´s universities and the only representative of the subcontinent among the top 200. The ranking is sponsored by the Times Higher Education (THE), the British magazine focused on higher education. In QS World University Rankings 2011/2012, organized by Quacquarelli Symonds's (QS), an international organization that evaluates the performance of educational institutions, USP gained 84 positions and now stands at the position 169th. And according to the Web Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, USP is considered the 38th best university in the world in visibility on the Internet. Following the same patterns and characteristics which granted FEA-USP a national and international reputation during a 50-year period, the Faculdade de Economia, Administração e Contabilidade (School of Economics, Business Administration and Accountancy) was created in Ribeirão Preto in 1992. In order to allow a continuous and progressive improvement in all academic features, FEA-RP encourages the establishment of research activities and other forms of projects whose main aim is to provide scholars and students with improvements in skills and knowledge. Besides, such ideas should allow scholars and professors to deal with a broader range of situations, so that it can create a stronger link with our local community. FEA-RP has, in its three departments, a group of trained and active professors, the vast majority under a full dedication to teaching and research, integrated with their respective post-graduate programs. FEA-RP/USP offers now five undergraduate programs: Economics, Business Administration, Enterprise Economics and Controllership, Mathematics Applied to Business and Accountancy; three master's degree programs in Applied Economics, Organizations Administration, Controllership and Accountancy and a doctorate program in Organizations Administration. We do believe that those programs can match some of yours. Ribeirão Preto is a city in the Northeastern region of the state of São Paulo. It is nicknamed Brazilian California, because of a combination of an economy based on agrobusiness plus high technology, wealth and sunny weather all year long. With 605,114 inhabitants, Ribeirão Preto is the ninth largest city in the state and is just in the centre of the most economically progressive region in Brazil. On the one hand, such a picture is due to the high performance achieved by some sectors, like agriculture, commerce and services. On the other hand, this economic prosperity enables investments in research and technological improvements, lately applied to a varied set of economic activities. Besides, the high standard of living enjoyed by the local population is noticeable. An accurate portrayal of such richness and economic strength is displayed while comparing some data related to Ribeirão with other regions or countries: the local per-capita income is assumed to be similar to that most of the Mediterranean countries and twice higher than the Brazilian average. Ribeirão Preto is also nationally recognized for hosting other university and research centers. Moreover, the campus USP here installed, one among the other seven which composes the USP system, offers twenty-seven courses in domains like Biological, Human and Technological Sciences. With regards to its international project, in an attempt to carry on some plans for the future prospective of FEA-RP, and taking into account the principle that such cooperation agreements proved to be efficient ways of achieving a mutual well-being as well as a common good, we clearly manifest our interest in engaging in a negotiation process with your Institution, so that we expect to provide subsidies for an eventual agreement sealing. USP has nowadays as an important objective the internationalization of its activities - using the double diploma system between some Institutions, the recognition of the disciplines coursed abroad in Institutions with which USP has a covenant and research projects developed by both Institutions members - and it is stimulating its units all over Sao Paulo state to put great efforts towards that idea. FEA-RP seeks to give the maximum of attention to the exchange students. Besides the language course in Portuguese focused on their needs, we also have a buddy system program, events of integration between the Brazilian and the exchange students and we can help them to find housing in both students and familie´s houses. With that the contact between them may be the closest possible and we can have an effective intercultural exchange.
