Each year, 1,800 students from all over the world come to the University of Pennsylvania's English Language Programs (ELP). They study English for a wide variety of purposes, including: general English; business English; English for academic preparation; English for professions such as law, architecture, dental medicine, and nursing; and teacher training. Our Intensive Program, Super-Intensive Program and Business Intensive Programs offer a wide variety of courses to fit your needs. Many of the students in these programs plan to study at a university in the United States after they finish studying English. Other students have careers in business or in the professions that require the use of English. The University Connection (UniConn) Program successfully prepares students for the challenges of the application and admissions process, as well as the rigors of academic study at the university level. For the past 5 years, UniConn students have been accepted to a variety of colleges and universities in the United States, including Penn and other top-tier institutions around the country. Our International Business Communication Program (IBCP) is a four-week program designed for business professionals with advanced proficiency in English who want to improve the effectiveness and confidence with which they communicate in professional situations in English.
