The YMCA International Language School offers both a theoretical and hands-on learning experience adapted to our students’ needs and objectives. Our wide selection of classes and activities gives students the opportunity to experience the culture first-hand and reach the language proficiency goals they have set for themselves. Programs in French and English are available to all, no matter what your personal objectives or motivations might be. We provide a safe learning environment with decades’ worth of teaching experience, which contributes to the personal growth of our students and their opening to the world. Our School ■The YMCA International Language School was established in Montreal in 1965 and is part of the international YMCA movement present in over 120 countries. ■The YMCA Centre is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, across from Peel metro station. The 6-storey building is home to the Language School, a sports centre with state-of-the-art equipment, and many community outreach programs. ■The School has 27 well lit classrooms, 2 computer language labs, and a student lounge. International Students Programs – Our Courses ■The English Program for adults offers 8 levels of general grammar & conversation as well as the following: TOEFL iBT and IELTS Preparatory Courses, Pronunciation, Business English, English @ Work, Writing and Conversation courses. Pathway and Gap Year Programs with 2 partner colleges are also available. ■The French Program for adults offers 9 levels of general grammar and conversation as well as the following: Conversation, Business French, Writing & Reading, and preparatory courses for the TFI and TCFQ tests. Pathway and Gap Year Programs with 2 partner colleges are also available. ■We have a new 4-week session starting every month. In 4 weeks students complete 1 level of the language. ■We are the official testing centre for TOEIC and TFI (Test de français international) exams in Montreal. Accommodation Services Homestay: Live with an English or French-speaking family and experience the Canadian way of life. Host families are usually located within 45 minutes from our School by public transportation. Ensuite bathrooms and couples discount available. Student Residence: Get your own private room and share an apartment-style residence with 4 to 8 other international students and lead a more independent lifestyle. Our Fitness Centre All students registered in our language programs of 15 or more hours per week have free access to the YMCA Sports Centre, which includes: ■Exercise room with state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment, weight training circuit, and free weights ■Group fitness and relaxation classes ■Spinning studio ■25-metre long pool ■125-metre indoor running track ■Gymnasium for team sports ■Computerized training room ■Squash and racquetball courts ■Hot tub and sauna About Montreal Our school is located downtown Montreal where restaurants, cafés, shopping centres, and theatres are just a few steps away! Downtown is where dozens of festivals take place all year long and where both French and English meet, so our students have no trouble getting around no matter what language they are learning. The School also organizes activities and cultural outings every week to give a chance to students to experience what Montreal has to offer. Weekend excursions to New York, Toronto, Ottawa, Québec City, and more are also offered all year round thanks to a tour company we have been working with for many years.
