La Trobe University is among the top 100 universities in the world under the age of 50. It is ranked in the top 10 in Australia for history, archaeology and classical studies, and in the top 100 in the world for communication, media studies, linguistics and sociology. Researchers in facilities like the La Trobe Institute of Molecular Science and the Centre for Agribioscience are driving new ways to fight disease, and tackle climate change, drought and other threats to Australian agriculture. Work placements are an important part of La Trobe's courses and students find work experience with organisations like CSIRO, the Australian Synchrotron, Deloitte and the University's partner hospitals.
